Fried Rice

I like to cook, especially when it's something pretty quick and easy, which is why I like to make fried rice. I kinda just made this recipe up on my own, but it works for me and tastes so good!

I start with one cup of rice and one cup of water in a medium to large skillet on medium heat. When it starts to simmer, I add some teriyaki sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and a little bit of cayenne pepper. After the rice has started to soften, I add loads of green onions, and whatever other veggies I feel like throwing into the mix, and move everything around the pan after turning the heat down just a bit. After the veggies, I add a little more teriyaki sauce and the aforementioned seasonings. When everything is just about tender and almost ready to eat, I'll add an egg, either scrambled in a separate pan, or the same pan, depending on how many dishes I feel like dirtying. Mix it all together well, add some more green onions, and it's ready to eat!

What I like most about this recipe/method (whatever you want to call it) is that you can easily add in whatever else you want, like chicken, tofu, bell peppers, baby corn, etc., or make easy substitutions, like soy sauce instead of teriyaki sauce, egg substitutes, and so on.

Doesn't hurt to enjoy some cider while you're drooling over the stove.
