Rad Leopard Nails

I've been on sort of a leopard kick lately (a realization that came to me while I looked at the things I own: leopard shoes, leopard pants, leopard dresses....), and I don't think it's just me. I've been seeing a lot of leopard things in stores lately (and buying all of them), but most of it is just the same old golden-orange and black scheme, which is fine, unless you have had almost all you can take of the same pattern in the same colors (which I kinda have). The one place I've seen a refreshing variation of this print is on nails, like those little sheets that you can just stick on (they are pretty neat, but pricey), and false acrylic nail sets. On nails, I've seen leopard print in a whole new way, and maybe that sounds really cheesy or something, but it's true, and I'm excited about it.

So I have been very inspired by all this (but deterred by the price of fake nails or nail polish stickers), and I decided that it seemed easy enough to do with stuff that I already have. Here's what I did...

These are the polishes I used: muddy brown, cement gray, clear coat, white, black, red, and purple-ish.

I started with a plain white (and very messy) base.

When the white dried, I took the colors and just blobbed them around in a visually appealing way.

When the color blobs dried, I took a toothpick (or you could use a nail art pen) and dipped it into the black, and dotted it around the edges of the blobs.

Let it all dry, for at least an hour or so.

And then finish with a clear/top coat (mine smudges the colors around for some reason, no matter how long I let 'em dry).
