Sugar Scrub

Today, my face was feeling pretty oily, and I didn't want to chance drying out my skin with anything too harsh in this heat, so I thought I'd try to make my own scrub. I cleaned out an old hair dye jar, because it seemed like the perfect size to store something that, and got to making the scrub.

I googled some different ways others have made their own scrubs, and found one that seemed easy enough, and tweaked it accordingly (considering the size of my container and my odd need to tweak anything with a set of directions).

Here's how it went down:

I used both brown sugar and white sugar, as both have different benefits and I had both on hand.

I just put in equal amounts of both until the jar was full enough, but still had room for mixing. Then I poured in about half a teaspoon of olive oil, to bind the sugar, and also for its moisturizing properties.

The last thing I did was add a little honey, because it's frequently raved about for being great for skin, and it smells nice too. I only added a little bit, not quite as much as the olive oil, but close.

I also added a tiny bit of cinnamon, for fragrance, but I don't think it was enough to make a difference. It smells nice anyway.

I stirred it all up, put the lid on, shook it a bit, and got ready to try it. I steamed my face with hot water to make sure my pores were wide open and ready, and then scrubbed it gently but thoroughly, and rinsed with cool water. It felt magical, and my face looked brighter after using it, not to mention how silky soft it made my skin.
